7 Cliché Tourist Photos Everyone Needs

We all know them, those tourist photos that EVERYONE gets when they go to certain destinations. Sure they’re a little bit tacky, hilarious and probably make you cringe looking at them, but, totally necessary photos!

I have visited some of the locations on many peoples cliché photo lists! Admittedly, there are dozens more I’m dying to add to this list, but I have ticked these ones off the list.

Having visited these locations and attractions and taken these photos myself, I thought I’d share with you 7 cliché tourist photos I have taken and (hesitantly, but hilariously) will share with you!

  1. With the Eiffel Tower

You cannot go to Paris and not take this photo. The Eiffel Tower IS Paris, whether it’s from the top of the tower itself, underneath, picnicking in front of, night-time or viewed from a hotel balcony, the Eiffel Tower is a Paris must have photo, cliché, but rightly so!

  2. Holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa

Yes, this is quite possibly the pinnacle of cliché photos, but it’s also a bit of fun! It’s leaning, so what do you do? Hold it up right? Hilarious, tacky, but a must have photograph, even if its only for your own viewing (or in my case, to embarrassingly share with you all!)

  3. Being Lady Liberty at the Statue of Liberty

You’re standing in front of this enormous statue, with Lady Liberty standing in all her glory, how can you not copy her iconic pose, even just for one photo? It’s totally daggy, but a cliché photo must do!

  4.  With a Royal Guard in London

Everyone has tried it, to make one of the Queen’s guards move, laugh or at the very least crack a smile! Alas, generally it is not to be. However, getting a photo with one of the guards is almost as good!

  5. Bellagio Fountain

One of the highlights of the Las Vegas strip, mesmerising in Ocean’s 11 and entertaining every time you see it. Don’t miss a chance at a touristy photo as the fountains of the Bellagio are brought to life!

  6. Crossing Abbey Road

I’m ashamed to admit it but i didn’t realise the significance of this cliché photo until the moment had well and truly passed and we were on our way back to our hostel! However, (much to locals frustration) crossing the iconic pedestrian crossing at Abbey Road studios has become a trend, replicating the Beatles Abbey Road album cover and has earned its position in this list.

  7. Wearing Mickey (or Minnie) Ears

Whether you’re a Disney fan or not, a cliché photo list is not complete without you wearing a pair of Minnie or Mickey ears at one of the many Disneyland Resorts, Hotels or Theme Parks! With so many different kinds to choose from, you’re spoilt for choice!

These are just some of the many, many cliché, hilarious, must take tourist photos! I can guarantee this will not be the only version of this list I post (cue kissing the Sphinx in Egypt, jumping at the Taj Mahal, holding a banana at the Big Banana and african safari selfie).
