Working at a sports retail store to earn my travel dollars, every day I’m surrounded by footy enthusiasts, athletes and those just venturing into the sporting world. Don’t get me wrong, I am no fitness buff, but watching different sports live or on TV really does get you invested!
With Game 2 of the State Of Origin (QLD Maroons VS NSW Blues NRL match) tonight in Sydney, I thought I’d share my Top 7 sports to go and see live!
- AFL (Australian Rules Football)
Being an Aussie this may be (slightly) biased, but I do really love watching my Brisbane Lions play in the flesh. 18 teams battle it out to win the Grand Final in September and is definitely my favourite live sport.
- NBA (National Basketball Association)
Having been to a match at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York to watch the Brooklyn Nets triumph over the Cleveland Cavaliers, I completely understand why American’s love their basketball. The atmosphere, half time cheerleaders, entertainment and crowd interaction makes this one of the funnest live sports. Beware the KissCam!
- The 4 Tennis Majors
The Australian Open, Wimbledon, French Open & US Open always draw a fantastic crowd to watch some of the tennis greats play for their titles or even see an underdog triumph over the world champs. Whilst the crowd isn’t join crazy, watching some of the worlds best rally against each other is inspiring.
- The Olympics
Only occurring every 4 years, attending the summer Olympics watching your home country compete in a variety of sports, patriotism at its finest.
- Football (Soccer)
In particular, attending the FIFA World cup would be an incredible experience. Soccer fans are said to be some of the most dedicated and craziest, which is entertaining in itself let alone the incredible football skills of those in the A-League.
American football attracts some of the biggest crowds in sport, The Superbowl in particular hosts some of the most popular celebrity artists to perform and has millions of television viewers worldwide tuned in to every play. Being at this sport, at any level, is always a spectacle which I am lucky enough to have attended.
Whether it be on ice or grass, hockey is quickly becoming one of the most popular sports in the world. The skill of these players is admirable and the fans really get involved in every aspect of the game.
